Information Design

A lot of information, made easy to use.

Structuring content and data so people find what they need and understand it the first time.

Information design covers two things we do: organizing a large body of content so people can find their way through it, and presenting data so people understand what it says.

We settle both before visual design, because a new look on a tangled structure leaves people just as lost. Information design is usually part of a larger build, such as a website, a platform or a data product.

Two kinds of work

Structure, then presentation

Content people can find

A content inventory, audience paths, navigation and labels tested with real users, and a content model the CMS is built around.

Data people can read

Charts, tables and summaries chosen for the question being asked, with honest scales. Sometimes the right answer is one sentence and a single large number.

Structure AI tools can read

The same structure that helps visitors lets search engines and AI assistants describe you correctly.

Where AI helps

Summaries a person signs off

In data products, AI drafts summaries of what changed, answers plain-language questions grounded in the actual numbers, and flags changes worth attention. A person reviews generated insights before they go out. In content work, we automate migration into the new structure where we can, then review the results by hand.

The Websites & Platforms solution covers the structural side in full, with UX Architecture behind it. Data Products & Dashboards covers data.
