Web Design

Yes, we design websites. Structure first.

Website design that starts with structure, designed and built by the same team.

When a website stops working, the structure has usually failed before the look has. So our web design starts underneath: who uses the site, what they come to do, what content exists, and what should stay, merge or go.

Then we design the pages and the system of components behind them, and build the site, usually on Sanity and Next.js, our current default. Defaults change, and if your organization works in WordPress or another platform, we’ll consider it when the site is part of a larger piece of work. The Websites & Platforms page describes the whole approach.

What the design covers

Designed for visitors and for editors

A site has two sets of users: the people looking for an answer, and the editors keeping it current without calling a developer. We design for both.

Navigation built around what people come to do

A sitemap and audience pathways, tested with real users where it matters, before anything is built.

A design system

Reusable components and templates, so a new page looks like it belongs without a designer in the room.

Accessible and quick to load

Accessibility designed in where the project calls for it, and speed checked on the devices your visitors use.

AI, and after launch

Designed for the tools that read it, too

When an AI assistant reads a site to answer a question about the organization, clearly structured, consistently labelled pages are what it gets right. We also design with the build in mind. In AI-assisted development the design is the spec, so a design that specifies layout, states and content gets built much closer to how it was drawn.

After launch, your team runs the content in an editing studio set up around what it publishes, with training. We keep supporting and developing the sites we build. We don’t maintain sites built elsewhere: for one of those, the options are moving it to the management of Nimble Digital, our Pattison Media sister agency, or rebuilding it on another platform with AI-assisted development.
