Introduction
Edmonton Screen funds and promotes the city’s film and game industries. We rebuilt its website to show local talent and make funding easier to find.
Planning & UX strategy
A lot of information, sorted for the people who need it.
Edmonton Screen serves international investors, film scouts and local creators looking for funding. Its old site held a lot of information with little order. We reworked the architecture and content flow so each of those groups can find what they came for.
A new mega-menu describes each section before the click. Programs are grouped by sector, so a game developer and a filmmaker each see the ones meant for them.

- 01
Status at a glance
Open and Closed tags on cards and detail views, so nobody hunts for deadlines.
- 02
Clear next steps
High-contrast action buttons and Important Dates callouts show what to do next.
- 03
Central resources
Key documents pinned to each page, for first-time and returning applicants.
- 04
Connected pages
Events, programs and success stories link to one another.
Design
We passed on a safe corporate look for something bright and loud.
The design had two jobs: make the case to global investors that Edmonton is a place to produce, and introduce the public to the people making work here.
Spotlight mouse effects, play and fast-forward icons as arrows, the E and S abstracted into masks, and colour floods that act as scene changes all lean into the screen.

Build
The homepage hero is a 3D scene. Move the mouse and you draw across it.
We worked with the client in interactive prototypes rather than a design handoff. The 3D shapes were made in Blender and brought into code with a custom shader that takes the mouse as an input.
The site is headless and has two sides: a private area where local industry members manage their profiles and list the events they host, and a public showcase of Edmonton’s talent.
