Introduction
Fort McMurray is an oil sands city in Canada’s northern boreal forest. We brought its tourism and economic development sites together as one place brand.
01
Website
One site for the place as a whole, for visitors, businesses and anyone considering life in Wood Buffalo.
With our partner Carolyn Patton, we merged the region’s tourism and economic development sites into one. The work centred on its user experience, architecture, navigation and search.
It introduces the region first, then leads into its main sections. It was built on Storyblok, with Algolia for search.

02
Supporting design
Custom illustrations and data visualizations that make the region’s numbers easier to read.
With Patton Communications, we also made the illustrations, data visualizations and marketing materials. They keep a site full of facts approachable.
For outreach, each department also has a series of editable PDF marketing books.
