Introduction

Revelstoke is four defining mountains, two national parks and a town that changes character every season.

A visitor in February wants snow reports and cat-skiing. A visitor in August wants alpine meadows, a lake and a patio. Tourism Revelstoke has to serve both, plus the sledders, families, remote workers and road-trippers in between, from one website.

We built the first version of that site on WordPress. When it came time for the next one, we moved Tourism Revelstoke to a headless platform, built within their budget, and designed it so their own team could run it.

01

The platform

Headless, within budget.

We handled the work end to end: strategy, information architecture, UX and interface design, feature planning, content strategy and the build. The site runs on Storyblok and Next.js, hosted on Vercel. Tourism Revelstoke supplied the photography, copy and video. A large part of the project was moving years of existing content across without losing what already ranked.

The seerevelstoke.com home page in winter: a skier mid-air above snowy trees, with pins linking to skiing and winter things to do

The season picker in the site header, open on Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter
Wild spaces, small town charm, big mountain adventure: the home page’s tagline over fall colours, above the things-to-do tabs

Built to go deeper

From the page people find to the trip they book.

Some of the old site’s busiest pages drew strong search traffic but sent few people anywhere useful. We studied those pages and rebuilt the paths out of them, so a visitor who arrives on a popular post lands on the guide, itinerary or offer that fits their trip.

The Do menu open in the site header, listing outdoor adventure, indoor activities, iconic locations, attractions and winter activities
The phone menu: Discover, Do, Stay, Eat and Plan

Run in-house

A platform the client runs without us.

Tourism Revelstoke’s team publishes on the site regularly without calling us. They build high-impact pages from a library of components, keep a community events calendar current, and turn out guides on everything from backcountry etiquette to the best patios in town. When they need something the platform doesn’t do yet, they call us and we plan it together.

Because everything is structured content rather than pages tied to one design, the site is already readable by search engines, answer engines and AI agents. That’s the base for whatever comes next.

Cards from the site’s component library: a guide, an itinerary, an event, a travel offer and an accommodation listing
